How Much Does a Digital Business Card Cost — and How Does It Compare to Print?
Paper looks cheaper because you only see the print shop’s invoice. Here is what a digital card actually costs, and a four-step method to work out your own print cost with your own print shop’s numbers.
Business Basic plan · 46 SAR a month, billed yearly

A company digital business card in AurCard is not priced per card: it is a yearly subscription for the business covering its page and a number of employee seats with their cards — Business Basic at 549 SAR a year (about 46 SAR a month), and each extra employee at 179 SAR a year. A paper card’s real cost is not the print shop’s invoice alone but every reprint — and that is what you will calculate yourself in this article, with your own print shop’s numbers.
The short answer
- Digital: one known yearly amount that does not change however often you edit the card or however often it is opened.
- Paper: a small amount per print run, repeated with every change of number, title, logo or address, and with every new employee.
- Which is cheaper? It depends on how many employees you have and how often their details change. The method below gives the answer for your business, not for an average that looks nothing like it.
What you pay for a digital card
In AurCard there are three items, two of them optional:
- The yearly subscription for the business. Business Basic at 549 SAR, or Business Pro at 899 SAR for a larger team and more branches. It includes the business page that works as its website, employee cards in the company identity, the customer ledger and WhatsApp from your company number.
- Employees beyond the included seats (when needed). Each extra employee is 179 SAR a year, added from the dashboard when you need them.
- Physical tools (optional). The smart sticker for the shop door, 74.75 SAR including VAT, paid once; and NFC cards for employees if you want them, ordered from any print shop that makes them. The card works by QR code, link and wallet without either.
What you do not pay for: nothing per scan, per edit or per contact saved.
Prices are in Saudi riyals including VAT in Saudi Arabia and in US dollars outside it, paid by mada, Apple Pay or credit card, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. What each plan includes is on the pricing page.
What you really pay for paper
The print shop’s invoice is the visible part. Under it are items nobody puts in a spreadsheet:
- Design the first time, then again with every change.
- Reprints when anything changes: an employee’s number, a title after a promotion, a new logo, an address after a move, a new unified company number. The whole old box becomes worthless, however little of it was used.
- A new employee needs a box; a departing one leaves theirs in a drawer.
- Time ordering, chasing and collecting — hours of someone’s day.
- What is never seen: the customer who took the card and never saved the number, and whom you will never hear about.
Work out your own print cost in four steps
We will not give you a price for a box of cards: prices differ between cities, print shops, paper, quantity and finish, and any figure written here would be wrong for your business. Ask two print shops to quote one box of cards for one employee, then:
Step 1 — the price of one print run. One box for one employee, from the quote. Call it (P).
Step 2 — print runs per employee per year. Start at 1, add one for each time something on the card changed last year (number, title, logo, address), and one if the box ran out. Call it (R).
Step 3 — employees who carry cards. Call it (E), and include everyone who joined during the year.
Step 4 — the total. Yearly paper cost = P × R × E, plus the design and its revisions.
Then work out the digital side the same way: the plan’s yearly price, plus the employees beyond the included seats times the extra-employee price, plus NFC cards if you want them (once, not every year).
| Item | Paper card | Digital card |
|---|---|---|
| First payment | Design + a run per employee | The yearly subscription |
| A number or title changes | A new run for that employee | Nothing |
| The logo or address changes | A new run for everyone | Nothing |
| A new employee | A new run | An included seat or an add-on |
| An employee leaves | A wasted box | Stopped in one press |
| Do you know who kept the card? | No | Yes, in numbers |
The cost no invoice shows
Comparing on price alone is unfair to the digital card, because the most expensive part of paper never appears on an invoice:
The customer who never saved the number. A card in a pocket is not a contact in a phone. A digital card saves in one press, so your company’s number is there when the customer needs it.
The numbers your employee collected. With paper, the people your rep met stay on the rep’s phone. In AurCard, anyone who leaves their number on an employee’s card is saved in the company’s customer ledger under the name of whoever collected it, and stays there when that employee leaves.
The exhibition whose result you never knew. With paper you hand out hundreds of cards and never know which one worked. With a digital card you see, per employee, how often their card was opened and saved.
When does paper still make sense?
Honestly: there are cases where a printed card is still useful — an older customer who prefers paper, or a formal occasion where exchanging cards is a custom. The middle path many businesses take is a small print run with the digital card’s QR code on it. It no longer needs reprinting with every change, because what changes lives behind the code.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay per card or per scan?
No. The subscription is for the business and includes a number of employee seats with their cards, with no fee for scans, edits or saved contacts. An employee beyond the included seats is added for 179 SAR a year.
Does the price include VAT?
Yes, in Saudi Arabia: prices are in Saudi riyals including VAT. Outside Saudi Arabia, payment is in US dollars.
Is billing monthly?
No, billing is yearly, paid up front once a year, with a 14-day money-back guarantee from the payment.
Do I have to buy NFC cards?
No. The card works by QR code, link and phone wallet. NFC cards are an optional extra for face-to-face meetings, ordered from any print shop that makes them and paid for once.
What happens to the cost as my team grows?
You add employees one at a time as add-ons, or move to Business Pro if you need more employees, branches and admins at once. Your page link and cards do not change when you upgrade.
